CORRUPTION INDEX 2009
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 17, 2009) : Transparency International Malaysia (T-IM) has acknowledged Malaysia’s efforts to deal with corruption although the country’s ranking on the corruption perception index (CPI) this year has declined.
TI-M president Datuk Paul Low said Malaysia’s ranking had slipped to 56th position this year from 47th last year, out of 180 countries surveyed.
However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s moves to initiate reforms in some institutions, especially the judiciary, and the setting up of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, to make them more independent, transparent and accountable, was the way forward for the country, he said at a press conference to announce Malaysia’s position in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index 2009, today.
He said Transparency International Malaysia believed that the way forward for the country was to seriously combat corruption and to make government decisions and transactions more visible and transparent. Read more> and HERE, and HERE.

SELANGOR DE COUP.
Notably, the Pakatan Selangor are very much alerted but yet internal bickering for power and communication breakdown has loosen the grip. The BN stealthfully infiltrating and spying our weak link and began their offensive against us....starting with the civil servant internally and media externally.
We can't stop the media from publishing the news but questions is..
Why are some of the government servants not on our side???
Are they well-being not taken care or fed adequately by Pakatan Administration??
We are fighting for a corruption-free state, yet it is rampant and done openly.
My observation on the civil servants....many are heavily-debts.Each and every end of the month, they not only suffer financially but torturous mental. They have no alternative but a way....that is doing part-time job morally or vice versa...
During the 2010 State Budget meeting, the Pakatan Councillors has objects to their excessive overtime claims. Indirectly, they are trying to tell us, the gorvernment must take care of them otherwise they will go back to their norm...corruption.
History the Pakatan MUST learned.
The Great Wall
The construction of the Great wall began during 770-476 BC.
During that period Ducal states built walls to defend their territories.
In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang conquered the six kingdoms and unified China to become its first emperor.
To consolidate the country and ward off invasion by the ethnic minority tribes in the north, he had the separate walls joined together and extended to form a united defensive system.
Construction continued up to the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), when the Great Wall became the world’s largest military structure.
1) WHAT CAN PAKATAN LEARN FROM THE
HISTORY???
2) HOW CAN WE WARD-OFF THE AGGRESSION OF
UMNO THE BABARIAN???
3) IS OUR DEFENSE SYSTEM IMMUNED AGAINST
THE PERPETRATOR???
THE PERPETRATOR???
Pakatan should stop
sending the wrong
signal to each other!!

Heads will roll in Selangor PAS
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — Speculation is rife that the PAS leadership is set to punish and pillory leaders identified as liabilities to its commitment to Pakatan Rakyat (PR), including the party’s Selangor chief Datuk Dr Hasan Ali.
It is understood that the party’s disciplinary committee have already identified leaders alleged to have caused strain and soured the party’s relations with allies PKR and DAP.

BN HAS NO MORE TALENT BUT CORRUPTED CANDIDATE!!
Defending Barisan Nasional's decision to field Isa Samad for the Bagan Pinang state by-election, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the former has already paid his dues.
Isa, a former menteri besar of Negeri Sembilan, was suspended from Umno in 2004 after being found guilty of practicing money politics.
Speaking to students in Paris, Najib said: "The question here is whether he deserved a second chance or not."

Dr M backs Makkal Sakti
PUTRAJAYA, Sept 26 — The latest addition to the proliferation of Indian parties in the country, Makkal Sakti, received a confidence vote today from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who also pointed out that MIC president Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu had become a much hated leader.
The former prime minister told reporters today the potential inclusion of Makkal Sakti into the Barisan Nasional (BN) fold could be a good thing as it had garnered a lot of support from the Indian community.
“There is a lot of support for this party, which I think is a good thing. The party has proven itself to receive a large amount of support of the Indians,” said Dr Mahathir.
He said that BN needed to regain the support of the Indians, and that by supporting Makkal Sakti, the ruling coalition would be headed in the right direction.

Ultimatum for Selangor Pas chief:
KLANG: Pressure is mounting on Selangor Pas state commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali to leave Pakatan Rakyat for his inability to “conduct himself as a team player”.
As the fallout from Hasan’s criticism of the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) continues, the menteri besar has also been urged to write to the Pas leadership demanding answers for Hasan’s behaviour.
Pas’ Shah Alam member of parliament Khalid Samad said if Hasan could not function as a team player in the PR government, he should do the right thing and leave.
He said the Pas leadership should also evaluate Hasan’s performance as the state Pas chief and an executive council member as he constantly raised issues that made the coalition look unstable.
Datuk Dr Hasan Ali under pressure to leave Pakatan Rakyat
“He should be reprimanded by the Pas leadership for his actions,” Khalid said when contacted yesterday.
He said Hasan’s statements were viewed as Selangor Pas’ stand but that was not the case as they were never discussed at any party meeting.
Hasan was in the news after he criticised Selcat proceedings. Selcat had called up district officers to explain how allocations of RM500,000 each to each assemblymen by the previous state administration had been disbursed within the first two months of last year.
Hasan had complained that Selcat was bullying and victimising the officers.
He also said Selcat should be revamped.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president and Hulu Kelang assemblyman Azmin Ali said Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim should send a letter to the Pas leadership asking for an explanation.
“He must demand an explanation on Hasan’s attitude which is contrary to the Pakatan spirit of cooperation.”
Azmin said it should also be brought up in the PR presidential council meeting.
He added that he did not know whether it was mere coincidence or deliberate that Hasan's actions, in bringing up issues such as beer sales or Selcat, came during by-elections.
The beer issue happened during the Permatang Pasir by-election while the Bagan Pinang by-election is next month.
Klang MP Charles Santiago, from the DAP, also said that Hasan should leave the coalition if he felt he could not agree with its decisions. He said Hasan should stop playing the race card by trying to show that he was fighting for the Malays.
Santiago said Hasan seemed to be portraying himself as a Malay champion against Selcat chairman Teng Chang Kim.
Pas' Tumpat MP Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar said calling up senior civil servants to testify was normal parliamentary practice.
Kamaruddin, a second-term Parliament Public Accounts Committee member, said even ministers and the attorney general had appeared before the PAC.
"There were no complaints then.
"There is no issue of bullying or treating them like schoolchildren," added the former Pas secretary-general.
In the case of Selcat, he said, calling up district officers could be termed as normal.
PKR supreme council member and fellow state executive councillor Dr Xavier Jayakumar said Hasan had crossed the line once too often and something must be done to stop this.
Hasan could not be reached for comment.

Samy Vellu ready to quit, but...

PETALING JAYA, Sept 22 — Taking hints from an impatient Umno, veteran MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu is prepared to quit immediately but only if his anointed successor and deputy Datuk G. Palanivel is ready to assume the party leadership.
“I am ready to let go (of the position). I am ready to go. Monday... or even tomorrow if Palanivel feels that he is ready to take over the party leadership. I am ready to pass the leadership to him,” the former works minister told MStar Online yesterday.
Hmmm...Another gimmick and lame excuse by the MIC President.Just waiting for Najib to confer him the title "Tun" before stepping down.

Sultan wants explanation over arrest powers for mosque officials

SHAH ALAM, Aug 27 — Datuk Dr Hasan Ali may have exceeded his powers by unilaterally empowering mosque officials to arrest Muslims caught drinking alcohol, without first consulting the Selangor Sultan.
As the head of Islam in Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah should have been consulted before the move was announced to the public, and state officials yesterday confirmed that “the Sultan is seeking an explanation”.
The Selangor PAS commissioner announced the controversial decision on Monday.
Those being empowered to make arrests without a warrant under the Syariah Criminal Enactment 1995 include imans and bilals.
State executive council members will be seeking an audience with the Sultan soon.
Earlier this month, Hasan courted controversy when he backed an illegal move by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to seize beer from a 7-Eleven outlet and called for beer to be banned in Muslim-majority areas.
The matter was laid to rest when Khalid successfully called on retail outlets to practise self regulation.
This latest controversial decision by Hasan, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, has also raised the ire of his executive council colleagues who were caught by surprise by the announcement.
According to Section 18 of the enactment, Muslims can be fined up to RM3,000, jailed up to two years or sentenced to both, for drinking in public.
Muslims also can be fined up to RM5,000, jailed for three years or both for selling, offering to sell and displaying beer and alcohol.
However during a press conference after the exco meeting yesterday, Hasan said mosque officials would only be allowed to arrest Muslims caught drinking openly.
Khalid, who was also at the press conference, said Pakatan Rakyat would take into account concerns of Muslims and non-Muslims before implementing any regulations.
He added that Muslims working in the food and beverage industry which serves alcohol should not be worried about being arrested.

BN hopes to reduce PAS majority at Permatang Pasir

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — The battle lines have been drawn. Come Aug 25, Barisan Nasional (BN) takes on the opposition pact in the Permatang Pasir by-election.
The by-election will either confirm or dismiss the swing of the Malay votes to BN, as evident in the case of the Manek Urai by-election recently.
